Dubois
is located in Fremont County, Wyoming, which is the largest county in land size in the six Rocky Mountain States. The town of Dubois is located in the northwest corner of the county and the Oregon Trail traverses the southern end. Dubois is considered a gateway town for Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. Tourism is very important to the local economy. The town of Lander is the county seat and the largest community in Fremont County is Riverton, which is considered the economic hub of the region. A large portion of the western edge of the county follows the Continental Divide at the crest of the Wind River Range of the Rocky Mountains. This region is known for its vast wilderness areas and is home to the largest glaciers in the American Rocky Mountains. Fremont County is the historical home of the Wind River Indian Reservation, home of the Shoshone and Arapaho tribes of Native Americans. Major industries in the area are: tourism, retail trade, educational services, construction, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, health services and public administration, finance, insurance and real estate.
